Concept Story
This project explores how Arab identity is perceived and redefined through language and fashion.
Muhammad conducted interviews and questionnaires asking participants what comes to mind when they hear “Arabic,” uncovering both stereotypes and moments of curiosity.
They were then asked to sketch their impressions, turning words into visual reactions.
The collected answers formed a visual dialogue - a study of perception and representation that questions how identity is seen, shaped, and understood.Design Direction
The project developed into a visual research layout combining text, sketches, and photography. Each page documents the tension between visibility and misconception - how the Arab body and dress become both a medium of expression and a site of misinterpretation.
The outcomes emphasize fashion as a tool for dialogue - a way to question how identity is seen, simplified, or stereotyped.
